HISTORY Since its inception in 1974, Kenya Spicers and Packers Ltd, a humble family-run company has grown from strength to strength. In 1993, the company was incorporated as Spice World Ltd and has since earned notable respect as a market leader in the food commodities segment. Based in the industrial area of Nairobi, Kenya, it started by processing and packaging spices before moving on to dealing with agro commodities. The products range from grain/cereal processing to milled cereal/pulse flours with brands like Butterfly (premium), Kamal and Asanta. In 2008, Spice World Ltd. acquired a pasta manufacturing plant allowing then to enter into a new market when they introduced long and short-cut pasta (vermicelli) under the Butterfly brand. 32
